The Hellenic ACM SIGMOD Chapter was established in 2024 with the aim to bring together the Greek data management research community world-wide, promoting its scientific and educational contributions and facilitating the mentoring of the young researchers in Greece, Cyprus and the rest of the world. As a chapter of the ACM Special Interest Group on Management of Data, it operates exclusively for scientific and educational purposes with focus on all aspects of the data lifecycle:

✓ Advance, increase knowledge and interest in data acquisition, data management, data science, data systems and technologies.

✓ Increase awareness of the benefits and dangers of the use of data and in general the important role of data and its applications in shaping every aspect of our life and work among both professionals and the general public.
✓ Promote the use of data for the common good as well as foster diversity and inclusion in all aspects of data professional activities.
Activities of the Hellenic ACM SIGMOD Chapter to achieve its goals include:
✓ The annual Hellenic Data Management Symposium.
✓ Networking and connecting events.
✓ Data-related seminars and panel discussions for raising awareness and exploring specific topics and challenges.
✓ Mentoring students and young researchers.
✓ Recognizing role models in the Hellenic database/data management/data science research community.
✓ Technical support for data research conferences, summer/winter schools on data and information science and technologies, taking place in Greece and Cyprus.
